Elements of Chemistry - Heat

penny reid,elements of chemistry,heat

penny reid, elements of chemistry, heat de Penny Reid (2015).

Présentation de l'auteur : Four days left. Private beach (…and boat). Not so invisible girl. And maybe less of a jerk-faced bully than originally thought. What’s the worst (or the best) that could happen?

Kaitlyn is finding life outside of the science cabinet of obscurity to be quite illuminating …and so are her pants. When things heat up between Kaitlyn Parker and Martin—previously known as the jerk-faced bully—Sandeke, she places her trust in the one person she never thought capable of earning it, let alone keeping it safe. Fortunately or unfortunately for Kaitlyn, where she gives her trust she can’t help but also give her heart.

But how will the world beyond the sanctuary of their newfound connection react to their relationship? Soon senators, chinless billionaires, and elements beyond Martin and Kaitlyn’s control want to weigh in on the young couple’s future. Navigating the chaotic inferno of new love might be more than Kaitlyn bargained for, and much, much more than her trust—or her heart—can handle.

♥♥♥♥♥♥

After a first part that poses the relationship between Kaitlyn Martin and the overall plot ... HEAT goes right in the middle of things !

On one hand, we follow the evolution of Kaitlyn and Martin, they begin to tame and learn to trust eachother (even if nothing is won in advance). Gradually they let their passions take shape, and quickly jump on each other ^^ *Attention explicit content as they say* but it is never out of place, and Kaitlyn and Martin are smart enough to do not ruminate in their corner if something bothers them. Kaitlyn has never had a boyfriend before and Martin has never had a serious relationship, so they are both a little lost in their own way.

On the other hand, you learn more about Kaitlyn's mom being a senator and how Marin's father is an asshole. And in all this, we have a story of a blackmail, which will force Kaitlyn and Martin to make difficult choices. And then "poof" it ends in a crisis situation, thank you Penny xD

I can't wait to read part 3 CAPTURE !

Elements of Chemistry - Attraction

Présentation de l'éditeur : One week. Private beach. Invisible girl. Jerk-faced bully. What’s the worst that could happen?

Kaitlyn Parker has no problem being the invisible girl, which is why she finds herself hiding in various cabinets and closets all over her college campus. Despite her best efforts, she can’t escape the notice of Martin Sandeke—bad boy, jerkface bully, and the universe’s hottest, wealthiest, and most unobtainable bachelor—who also happens to be Kaitlyn’s chemistry lab partner.

Kaitlyn might be the only girl who isn’t interested in exploiting his stunning rower’s build, chiseled features, and family's billionaire fortune. Kaitlyn wants Martin for his brain, specifically to tabulate findings of trace elements in surface water.

When Kaitlyn saves Martin from a nefarious plot, Martin uses the opportunity to push Kaitlyn out of her comfort zone: spring break, one week, house parties, bathing suits, and suntan lotion. Can she overcome her aversion to being noticed? Will he be able grow beyond his self-centered nature? Or, despite their obvious chemistry, will Martin be the one to drive Kaitlyn into the science cabinet of obscurity for good?

Maintenant j'attend xD

I do not read many novels with young adults, when I do they are books by authors I already know so I liked those I read... This one I liked it too, but I think I would wait to read volumes 2 and 3 for a final opinion.

I really liked Kaitlyn (the fact that she is a Doctor Who fan has nothing to do with it xD), she is far from naive, she do not let herself be pushed around and do not hesitate to drop witty comments to destabilize and soften the atmosphere. She may have no love life experience but it won't prevent her from saying what she thinks to Martin ^^.

Martin, alpha male of his group of friends, we also discover that he is a little insecure when he is alone with Kaitlyn. She doesn't treat him like the others and expects nothing of him, so naturally she shakes him up...

This first part ends on the first "impediment" that will have to be overcome, I found it great, with a few bits of intrigue revealed gradually to stir curiosity and make me want to read the next books. Now I wait xD

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).

By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.

The Hooker and the Hermit

the hooker and the hermit, penny reid,l.h. cosway

20140926-HH-07-big.jpg de Penny Reid et L.H. Cosway (2015).

Présentation de l'éditeur : New York’s Finest - February 14, 2015

LADIES AND GENTS! I have an announcement! You know that guy I featured on my blog a few months ago? The really, really hot Irish rugby player who plays the position of ‘hooker’ in the RLI (Rugby League International)? The one with the questionable fashion choices leading me to ask whether he was the lovechild of a leprechaun and a hobbit? The one with the anger management issues and the body of a gladiator and the face of a movie star? Ronan Fitzpatrick? Yeah, that guy. Well, I have a confession to make…

THE HERMIT : Annie Catrel, social media expert extraordinaire at Davidson & Croft Media and clandestine celebrity blogger, can make anyone shine in the court of public opinion. She is the Socialmedialite, anonymous creator of New York’s Finest and the internet’s darling. Virtual reality is Annie’s forte, but actual reality? Not so much.

THE HOOKER : Ronan Fitzpatrick, aka the best hooker the world of rugby has seen in decades, despises the media—social or otherwise. The press has spun a web of lies depicting him as rugby’s wild and reckless bad boy. Suspended from his team, Ronan has come to Manhattan to escape the drama, lay low, fly under the radar. Only, Ronan isn’t easy to overlook, and he can’t escape the notice of the Socialmedialite…

THE PLAN : When Ronan is sent to Davidson & Croft Media to reshape his public image, he never expects to cross paths with shy but beautiful Annie, nor does he expect his fierce attraction to her. He couldn’t be happier when her boss suggests pairing them together. What lengths will Annie take to keep her virtual identity concealed? And what happens when the hooker discovers who the hermit really is?

------ In english (sorry the weird translation...) ------

Here I am with an new ARC -again- of a Penny Reid's book -again- but it was also written with LH Cosway (from which I only read Six of Heart for now) so it changes a bit xD

Our two authors tell us how Annie, very introverted and on the edge of agoraphobia, will learn to get out of her own bubble and trust the world thanks to Ronan. As rugby player, he's used to smash everything in his path, and he will be very determined to demolish the wall that Annie has built around herself.

It's a game of cat and mouse, with the advantages and disadvantages of Internet : blogs, Twitter, Instagram, FB etc. are great, an alias is even better, but at some point she will have to come clean... What was a way-out for Annie will jeopardize her relationship with Ronan. Both are going to ask themselve questions about what they would be willing to give up for the other, even completely change their lives.

Let's put our foot in it : the sex scenes are hot and very different from Knitting in the City, it starts light of course, but it will quickly become unbridled and it may not appeal to everyone in the sense "dominant/dominated". I admit, there was a scene I didn't really like (mostly beacause in parallel we had all the media bludgeon over that crappy movie, I was afraid for this book), but I did not hate it 1 because it was well written, 2 there is a role reversal later and 3 "oh but consent, in fact, it' reaaaaal !!!!!".

Finally when we take the book as a whole and look at how Annie and Ronan tame each other, I think that it's not necessarily the thing that I like but at least these people don't give a negative image.

You've been warned, happy reading !
